This is the world's longest bridge across a water body according to the Guinness World Records. There are two parallel bridges that cross Lake Pontchartrain. This bridge is situated in southern Louisiana. The longer bridge of the two is 23.83 mi (38.35 km) in length., Posted speed IS 60, but 70 is more common. I10 from the east comes from Mobile through Slidell, crossing the outlet of Lake Ponchartrain on the "5 mile bridge." It is a wide, open, modern structure, typical speeds again 70 mph. The Causeway is a 26 mile bridge made in the 50s & 60s, 2 lanes each way. A pretty tedious drive except for the sailboats.
