Mgw shifter c6

Received 1,287 Likes on 866 Posts. I hear a lot of good things about using the C6 shifter in a C5. I personally have the MGW and it is a work of art design, craftsmanship, and functionality. I had tried the Hinson shifter but I found the shifts to be so short that I sometime couldn't tell if I was in gear or not.

My previous C6 had the stock shifter and my Z06 has the MGW shifter in it from the previous owner. It's a huge difference. Absolutely love it. The throws on the stock shifter are far too long. The OEM shifter screws are shorter than the aftermarket screws and if the OEM screws are used, the shifter will pull out of the lower shift box. The MGW is a lot tighter, if that's what you're looking for. The C5 and C6 are a lot looser, but also a lot smoother and much less effort to shift. As mentioned, the box is the same for both C5 and C6. You may wish to replace the rubber bushings that mount the box, though.

UtMy MGW was an improvement over the C6 shifter, it is very notchy, and direct/short, but it requires more effort than I would prefer, even with the anti-venom mod. I sometimes still have issue getting it into 2nd quickly when down shifting. My shifter is pretty stiff trying to move to the 1-2 gate or 5-6 gate from the 3-4 line. I just thought I needed to do the anti-venom mod but it looks like I need to get back under there and tuck the boot down lower. As shown, mine just sits around the MGW boot like the C6 video shows and I added white lithium grease to keep the friction down.

The MGW is a big improvement over stock. I can tell you it's an improvement over every shifter I've had in either my C5Z or C6Z! This includes the Hurst, Kirban, and the 427x.
